Are you applying for Permanent Residence and have questions about Right of Permanent Residence Fee? Here is all the latest information from CIC on rules and requirements about it. There is a link at the bottom to calculate the fee for your country.
Principal applicants (with some exceptions) and spouses and common-law partners coming with them to Canada must pay this fee. Applicants must pay this fee before CIC issues the permanent resident visa or before the applicant becomes a permanent resident in Canada.
There is no fee for dependent children under the age of 18.
These people do not have to pay this fee:
- dependent children of a principal applicant or sponsor, a child to be adopted, or an orphaned brother, sister, niece, nephew or grandchild; and
- protected persons, including Convention refugees.
Processing fees for programs under Express Entry must be paid through your MyCIC Account.
Note: Paying this fee at the time of submission can help speed up the processing of your application, so it’s a good idea to submit it when you apply.
If you don’t pay it up front, you must pay this fee before we issue any permanent resident documents to you.
To pay your fees, you will need:
- a Visa®, MasterCard® or American Express® credit card
- a valid email address.
Once you have paid your fee, you will see a payment confirmation page with your confirmation number and a link to your payment receipt.
