The province of Ontario has announced details of a new Canadian immigration stream called ‘Opportunities Ontario: Human Capital Priorities Stream’, aligned with the federal Express Entry immigration selection system.
This stream enables Ontario Provincial Nominee Program (OOPNP) to nominate candidates who qualify for the Express Entry pool and who meet the required level of education, work experience, language skill and other categories to help them succeed and integrated in Province’s market and community.
Here is how it works
When an individual registers for express entry, they must show interest in working in “Ontario” or “All Provinces or Territories”. Also they must also be eligible to enter the pool through either the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Canadian Experience Class.
OOPNP searches the Express Entry pool for potential candidates who:
• Have a minimum score of 400 on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), and
• Meet the criteria of Ontario’s Human Capital Priorities Stream.
Selected profiles will receive a “PT Notification of Interest from Ontario” through their MyCIC account. This notification will invite them to apply to OOPNP for nomination under the Human Capital Priorities Stream. From this point, selected candidates are given 45 days to apply.
When they apply the have to fill out the Nominee Application Form and have all the required supporting documents ready.
– All applicants must indicate which federal immigration program they wish to be assessed against: FSWP or CEC.
– After OOPNP assesses your nomination against the Human Capital Priorities Stream eligibility criteria. Your application will be further assessed to ensure you meet the FSWP or CEC criteria.
